Friends of Collegedale Public Library have helped make available to library patrons the popular language learning tool, Rosetta Stone. All you need to get started is your library card and a computer with Internet access. (Add some headphones and a microphone in order to reap the full benefits of the program.) From the first lesson, you'll have the opportunity to listen to native speakers in each chosen language and to respond using a microphone, receiving instant feedback on how to improve pronunciation.
offers 30 different languages, and you can take your pick from any language and any level of instruction. You'll find hours' worth of foundational instruction that includes core reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills lessons; grammar and vocabulary activities; and more.
Choose one of the following 30 languages that are available via Rosetta Stone: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Dari, Dutch, English (American), English (British), Filipino (Tagalog), French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Pashto, Persian (Farsi), Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish (Latin American), Spanish (Spain), Swahili, Swedish, Turkish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.
